Dear Mr. Trouten,
I am interested in contacting you regarding your role as a member of the SCVCS Board.
I have several issues that I would like to see addressed, but for various reasons, I am afraid of reprisals against my family if I raise them.
Can I have some sort of assurance that, if I e-mail you, our contact can be confidential?

I am an advocate first and a board member second. There is a foundational problem anytime politics is given power over what is right....
I understand your concern about reprisals and I defend parents against them all the time. If our school is doing something outside the law I want to know about it.
That's the good news. The other good news (which is sometimes viewed as the bad news) is that I will tell you the truth! Two of my older children were IEP/special needs. I can assure you that you have way more power and options for reprisals against the schools then they have against you! It's a federal offense to "reprise" against a parent or a child!!!
If you need references to assure you that you will be free from reprisal from me I'll be glad to put you in touch with some of the parents I've worked with. Now with that said you will need to understand that I may not be considered neutral should you need to bring this before the board so I couldn't vote one way or the other. However, I am always willing to represent concerns I cannot vote on that I agree with!
I look forward to helping you anyway I can. You are listed as a guest. Join the board and send me a message. I'll send my personal contact info to you.
Dan

Just FYI, because this board is open for anyone to view I do not post my direct contact information on it. This is why you have to join so I can send you a direct message.
